SSgt Matt Nelson waiting to attend burial of fellow Marine.
My name is Dwight Nelson. I am President of New England Warrior, Inc., as well as a former Marine. I created this charity in 2006, before my son, Ssgt. Matthew Nelson, departed for Iraq with the 1st Battalion, 25th Marines (1/25). I consider myself fortunate because my son returned home safely from his tours, but there were other brave men from his unit who did not make it back. There are no words to describe the impact this loss has on so many lives. I felt I needed to do something to honor the impact this loss has on so many lives. I felt I needed to do something to honor the memory of these heroes, and all the Marines and Navy Corpsmen who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve us. While they did not return, we are determined that they will not be forgotten.
- Dwight Nelson, PresidentNew England Warrior is a 501(C)3 charitable, non-profit organization that was established to support Marines by purchasing much needed comfort items while they were deployed in harms way. But as the organization grew, we turned our primary fundraising effort to support The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF). This allows us to focus on "honoring Marines by educating their children" in order to help families who have lost a loved one in the Global War on Terrorism.
To accomplish this goal, we recently launched our newest fundraising initiative: Operation Patriot Warrior This is a project through which New England Warrior seeks to purchase, restore and auction off a customized HMMWV, with the proceeds to be donated directly to the MCSF.
New England Warrior Inc is a private non-profit 501C(3) charitable organization and is not officially affiliated or supported in any way with the U.S Gov't, the Dept Of Defense or the United States Marine Corps. Our IRS Tax ID # is 61-1560869.
"Here's wishing health to you and to our Corps, which we are proud to serve"
